Wow! This is a great article on the whole Microsoft not including Java in the OS thing.

Hello there.

My employer is once again under fire. There's a nasty worm spreading through IIS Servers all around the net. It's not good news that's for sure. :-(

We're also under fire for not shipping the Java VM as part of Windows XP. The slams just won't stop. First we're accused to being a monopoly, now we're bad for NOT shipping something in the box. It will never end. I was checking out a Slashdot article on the Java VM thing and it had a link to Sun's Java site that included this picture. Funny thing that a standard part of their libraries includes CORBA, but COM is no where to be seen. Why is that? Isn't CORBA the COM of UNIX? Sorry if that question is out of place or wrong folks. I haven't worked on a UNIX box in a number of years but that is my understanding of CORBA. Please feel free to drop me a line if I'm outta place here.

The good news is Java will live on XP. Third party vendors, or Sun for that matter, will still be able to create a VM that runs on XP. Java fans don't need to fret about it. It'll live on which is a good thing. Personally I think Java is a wonderful language and I'd bet most Microsoft would agree.

My fellow Americans...

I guess President Bush is going to be visiting the Queen Mother in jolly old England. Boy talk about your uptight people. On the news this morning they were talking about how you shouldn't touch her. Say what? What the heck is going to happen if you do? Will she break? That lady needs to lighten up and live a little. Heck would it hurt her to smile once in a while? Maybe so?

Good luck Mr. President.

P.S. Remember don't touch her! :-)

Howdy fellow Californians,

Our summers here in the San Joaquin Valley can get quite hot. This week has been a real blessing with temperatures in the upper 80's to low 90's, yes that's cool for us this time of year! Anyway... The cooler temperatures made me think of, believe it or not, Christmas. Now my wife will be the first to tell you that I'm a little wacky about stuff related to Christmas. What does that mean? Well for one thing I don't like to listen to, or watch, anything related to Christmas until around Thanksgiving time! I know, I know, that's weird! So what do I do today but dig out my Bing Crosby and Friends Christmas album.

Ahhhh feels like Christmas.

Howdy y'all,

Last night my youngest daughter and I went down to the irrigation ditch that runs in the field next to our house to hunt for frogs! We had a really nice walk and got to see the sun set. I haven't watched the sun set all summer long! What a shame.

Anyway we had a great time and managed to find three frogs in the ditch. We were able to catch one and Tay did her best Crocodile Hunter impression. I have to get out and do this more often, it's fun to play in the mud with your kids! :-)
