Imagine my surprise when I saw this while showing my brother Scripting News! Wow! Thanks Dave!

What an exciting evening! :-)

We also got my brother using Blogger now. World domination is just around the corner! (that last comment is just a joke, so settle down) :-)

Well here we are at my brothers house again, you know the one that lives in the murder capital of the world! Fresno, CA!!!!!

I posted this just for his sake. He hates it when I throttle Fresno.

But seriously we just had dinner with them at Red Robin. It was a great time, as usual. Too bad the time slips by so fast when we're here. Jay and I get to talking about computers and the night just flys by. Jay's playing Mech Warrior as I type this and my wife and his wife are gabbing behind us.

Ok so maybe Fresno ISN'T the murder capital of the world, I just like to give him a bad time about it. My sister-in-law informs me that Exeter, where we live, now has more murders per capita than Fresno. Krud!

Afternoon Y'all...

There's been a whole lot of activity on Scripting News about hooking up the Blogger API to Manila and Jabber and other systems. It's very exciting stuff. Today Dave posted his original Jabber to Blogger "napkin" sketch on the site. Man that kind of diagram is just what Visio is for, so I sent him a link to my version and he used it on Scripting! Cool!

Sorry for all the links, man that looks confusing! :-)

Good Morning Softball Fans!

Well we played a really tight game last night. The game was all tied up when Granny's Gang came up for their final at bat. The first hitter got a single, the second hitter got a single. Now we have runners at first and second, no outs! Drats! The third man to approach the plate hit a line shot up the middle and scored the man from second! Game over... Major bummer. We finished the season 4-4. We should have finished 6-2 in my humble opinion. We decided to lose our last two games, one to the worst team in the league and the final game to the best team in the league. Our tournament starts on Tuesday evening, 6:00 P.M. Dobson Field in Exeter. I don't know who we play in the first round. Time for redemption!

Richard started a little MSN community for developers in the San Joaquin Valley. There's been a nice little discussion on remoting requests to servers. If you have anything to offer along XML-RPC, SOAP, or other technology lines. Take a look at the thread, "Architecture Question : remote web / database integration", and offer up some advice. This is exactly what the community is for. Real problems offered and hopefully answered. Participate!

Time to go beat my head some more....

Howdy...

My sister-in-law works for a hosting company in Virginia that's trying to make a name, and a business, for itself. The company's name is ServerVault. This is one of those internet companies I would think could make it. Not just because she's there, that's good reason to believe it will however because she's a smart cookie, but because serving up web pages and e-commerce and whatever else can be dreamed up is here to stay. Why all this talk? Well Exodus is struggling and now they say they wouldn't mind being bought. Go figure...

Hang in there D maybe you guys can score some BIG clients now that they're having trouble! :-)

Mornin' y'all...

Happy 2nd birthday Blogger! Yee-Haw! I discovered Blogger in October 2000, just about a year ago now. I'm a closet Macintosh fan and Blogger was listed in MacWorld's hot stuff for 2000 issue(that's not really the name but you know what I mean). Keep up the good work Evan.

Well our softball season is coming to a close. Tonight is the last regular game of the season. Next week we have a two night tournament then it's time to hang up the bat, glove, and cleats for another year! Big sigh. Our team has proven to have a real Dr. Jeckel/Mr. Hyde personality. We're 4-3 and should really be 5-2. Last Thursday night we lost to the worst team in the league by one run! That just stinks. I don't like giving a losing team their only win of the season! This comes after we beat a really good team in extra innings the Tuesday before. Tonight we play the league leader. I hope Mr. Hyde shows up so we can lay a real whoopin' on them. :-)

I've been hacking away in my spare time on a piece of code that'll let folks post to the Blogger API using C++ classes. I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to use the Win32 WinINet API's properly. So if you're reading this, I know I have a VERY small audience, and know anyone that uses the Win32 WinINet API's please hook me up with them. To be honest I'm not sure if my use of the functions is just wrong or if my HTTP header and/or XML-RPC payload is wacked. Once this library is complete Richard is going to wrap it in a COM component and replace the VB version of bloggerCOM with the new and improved C++ built version. I hope...

Side projects are difficult at best. Sometimes you don't feel like coding at 10:00 at night. Last night was a long and unproductive night. Bummer. Once I get past this hurdle the classes for building requests should be fairly simple. Those coupled with Http classes tuned for XML-RPC is all we'll need to do some really cool stuff. Help!

Now where'd I put that BIG hammer...

Mornin' all,

My brain's not quite functioning yet and neither is my e-mail server! Drat!

If you're anything link me you're addicted to coffee. I just cannot function until my quad mocha(Seattle style) sets in. So in honor of coffee I'll point you at the beautifully designed "2001: A Coffee Odyssey". Enjoy.

Say if you're from Visalia, or are new to the area, check out our wonderful coffee shops right here in town. Here on Main Street I have a choice of three places. Java Jungle is West a block, Starbucks is across the street, and Visalia Coffee Company is just a block due East. You can find addresses and phone numbers here. Java Jungle is my personal favorite. Kim and I get coffee there most Saturdays.

Guess I'll try to do some work while the caffeine soaks into my brain...

Well my wife has spoken about my bad attitude regarding the move!
Darn is this what I have to do to get her to post to her blog? Hey, whatever it takes I'm ready to do it for the team!

I know the new house will be good for us, I just hate having to move all our stuff to it. If we could only make it move there and get all setup for us! Now that would be cool.

Now where'd I put that ice pack?

Howdy fellow net neighbors,

We're in the process of buying a new house, well new to us anyway. We've been in our current home for four years and man have we collected a bunch-o-junk. I was shocked and amazed yesterday how much junk I pulled from my own closet! Chuck it! I can't imagine what I'm going to find in the attic once I get up there. I know I have my first computer stuffed in a box up there, that dude's gonna become a big paper weight in a landfill somewhere. Does anyone know how to put an old 386-sx on the web? If you do I'd love to hear about it, please drop me a line.

I gotta be honest. I HATE MOVING! I'd rather go to the dentist and have a tooth drilled, without anesthesia. If this whole deal works and we get the house I think this will be the last move we make. That is unless we build our dream house, then we can move one more time. :-)
