Fresno and Harry Potter??
-
[5:07 PM]
Yep, that's right. Fresno and Potter. Just like Peanut Butter and Jelly, right? I just discovered The Visalia Times Delta is holding a contest for a free preview to Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets. Entrants must be under the age of 16. [Via SnitchSeeker.com]
Sounds like fun!

Bad SBC/PacBell, bad, bad!
-
[9:00 AM]
Ok, little update on my problems. I haven't called SBC/PacBell, yet. It looks like there's something goofy going on between here and certain routes to certain websites. I just remoted into a different machine that uses a Sprint T1 as it's jumping on point to the net and everything is working hunky-dory. So it looks like my week long off and on connection problems continue.
Weird isn't it. I can post to Blogger, no problem, cannot ping weblogs.com, on occasion my Radio site can't publish because the it can't establish a connection to radio.xmlstoragesystem.com, but I can see Scripting News? What kind of weird route are my packets taking?
The mystery continues, details when available.

Movie line of the week answer
-
[8:40 AM]
For some goofy reason I cannot get to my Hotmail account. It looks like my connection is goofing up again. If there's a winner sitting in e-mail I'll announce it later.
In the meantime the correct answer is...
The Mummy Returns Hopefully I'll be able to connect to my Hotmail account later and see if anyone guessed. As of 5PM yesterday I had one guess.

Oh my...

[9:02 AM]
I was hoping the whole Microsoft switch thing was just a publishing boo-boo. But I guess it wasn't. How embarrassing...

Movie line of the week.

[8:49 AM]
After hours and hours of research and consultation with leading experts....
Ok, ok.... my youngest daughter came up with this, and it's a good one!
Hey, you, lighten up. You, big trouble. You, get in the car. Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here.

Darn...

[9:30 AM]
BBC News: "Potter star Harris has cancer" - Horrible, just horrible.

Howdy, howdy...

[9:09 AM]
I've been having trouble with SBC/PacBell lately. I'm not sure exactly what's going on. Maybe their commercials are making them too popular to keep up with demand? It seems the DNS server I connect to loses it's brain on occasion and I go dark. One goal of software and hardware companies should be to make these systems ROCK SOLID! My connection should be as reliable as my phone service. I pick up the phone, hear a dial tone, and call. Easy. When will our net connections be that solid? Until then we should stop talking about services and get back to basics. Make it work 24-7-365, period. An outage on occasion is livable, but my strangeness has been going on for a week. That's unacceptable.
The state of pro sports
MSNBC: "Owens’ spectacle steams Seahawks" - I've never understood antics like this. Play the game. Let that speak for you. You don't have to dance around, pound your chest, and say it's all you. It would have been fitting for one of the Seahawks to have drilled him.
Why is it pro sports if full of whiny punks like Owens and Randy Moss? I will give Owens this, at least he's not a criminal.
I know, I know.... quit whining. Dang!
Softball
Softball is always good.

New face on an old favorite

Rodent Regatta: "SIGNING OFF - DO NOT ADJUST YOUR BOOKMARKS" - Very nice Steve!
I LOVE the new logo!

Blog scripting
-
[2:20 PM]
Here's the perfect blog tool scripting engine.
In fact it's just a plain great scripting engine, period! If you need to make your app scriptable give it full consideration.

Amen to that...

James Snell: "The Australians were there for us after September 11th, and we'll be there for Australia and Indonesia now." - I couldn't agree more James.

It looks like Joe Friend's So Many Islands, So Little Time has been noticed by MSNBC. Joe is an American living in Bandung. He's a Christian, and like I said earlier an American, living in a Muslim country. His site is very much worth reading to get a picture of what it's like over there right now. Very turbulent to say the least. He and his family are hanging in there however.
Drop him some well wishes and keep them in your prayers.

Happy Monday Y'All!
-
[9:15 AM]
We had a wonderful weekend, my batteries are all re-charged and ready to roll! We went to the pumpkin patch Friday night and strolled through it with a couple of wagons in tow picking the perfect pumpkins to decorate our home. We picked up eight in all, six traditional orange pumpkins and two white pumpkins. I'm very excited about carving them. I love this time of year! So anyone know how to make a carved pumpkin survive for an extended period of time? I'm not sure when we should slice them open.
Saturday was Exeter's annual Fall Festival Parade and Festivities in the park. This is something the entire family looks forward to all year. This year was our first year in the new house, which is a house away from the park, and it was absolutely wonderful to be able to walk downtown and take a nice leisurely stroll back to the park! We ate way too much food and generally had a great time browsing the booths and talking to friends we hadn't seen in ages. To top it off Kim and I got to go catch a movie with some friends. We haven't seen a non-family movie together in ages, and for a movie buff that's torture! What movie did we see? Signs! Wonderful film IMHO. Very entertaining and full of great fodder for Movie Line of the week! I almost fell out of my seat when Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix were running around the house acting like crazy men! Funny stuff.
Old Movies
I've been searching for Young Sherlock Holmes on DVD, no luck. The best I've been able to find is VHS which is good enough if that's all I can get it on because I really love the film. The reason I'm talking about this is something I read on Scripting News which leads to this article. The thing that fits my scenario here so well is the comment made by Jack Valenti when he says "Who is going to digitize these public domain movies?" The answer is of course movie buffs! Hey if I could visit a Blockbuster website, or another site dedicated to digital video, I'd be happy to pay them $15-20US for them to either rip me a DVD or allow me to download and rip it myself! That would be great! I'm not looking for a free ride here, I'd be happy to pay for it. Just give me the option, it's just another distribution tool.
Pumpkin Links
I just thought I'd share some good pumpkin related links since it is pumpkin time!

Potter Job?
Well nobody has answered my question about how to get a job on the Harry Potter movies. Darn. I'll keep posting about it until I can get someone to bite. Is there anyone out there that reads this site that knows someone in the business? I'm serious.
