Movie line of the week - [12:43 PM]

Roll film!
Slow week, as far as blogging goes. I think this is the first time I've ever had such a HUGE gap in my entries, oh well, such is life, right?

I thought I'd throw ya'll a bone this week, that's okie for it's going to be easy to guess.

Ready, set, go...

First you gotta do the truffle shuffle.

Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here.

Happy Tax Day, BTW!

End of the Visio era... - [11:33 AM]

Well, it finally happened. The assimilation is complete. Last Friday, Good Friday, was the Visio crews final day in downtown Seattle. It's pretty sad to see them leave that place. All of Visio's releases to date were produced entirely in Seattle. Everybody knew it would eventually happen. It was always one of the first questions asked when we'd have our monthly/quarterly unit meetings. Of course the answer was to dance around and act like it was never talked about it, but we all knew better. Let's all stand up and hold our glasses high to the death of what was Visio style.

Early prototype box
It's hard to convey how strongly people felt about working downtown. At one point we were growing beyond what our little offices in Westlake Center could handle. Being a Democratic company we put it to a vote where we wanted our new offices. One of the choices was Bellevue, which is on the east side of Lake Washington. People threatened to quit if we moved to the "Eastside"(which is where Microsoft is headquartered). All of those folks are long gone of course but part of what made Visio such a great place to work was its location. As a company Visio was more than just about great software, it was about providing the best possible work environment and a nice balanced life. Hats off to Jeremy, Ted, and Dave. You guys did it right.

I'll never forget the best professional years of my life as a part of a little company called Axon, no wait... Shapeware, er... uhhh... I mean Visio. Microsoft will never hold a candle to it. (That's not a slam BTW, it's just my experience. Your mileage may vary.) Smile, life is good!

Major bummer! Zero answers for the second week in a row?

The correct answer is....

I guess I'll have to make it a bit easier this week?
