Can I come with you? - [11:02 AM]

Ben Padilla: "I'd dissolve in the depths of London's West End" - I think the family could stand some time London. I'd love to get lost there for a while. Kim wants to spend some time in Italy, I could handle that as well.

Harvest cometh... - [9:19 AM]

When I signed on at Paramount I knew from late August through the end of October or early November I'd basically give my life to the company. That signing away of the life came early this year, a couple of months early as a matter of fact. Our pistachio huller was overhauled and we've been creating new HMI's as well as brand new PLC programs. It's been very interesting and busy, and I've learned a few things about HMI development.

Bringin' in the harvest.1) InTouch is arcane.
2) Excel is a very good friend.

InTouch is a product by a company called WonderWare. I've said it's arcane and I mean it. The UI could use a complete do-over, I don't think it's been changed since Windows 2.1, that's how bad it is. Now, having said that, it gets the job done and I'm guessing most of the time was spent on the important aspects of the product, like communicating with I/O Servers and animating the screen properly. If they'd spend some time on the dev tools it would benefit the folks using it in a HUGE way.

Excel is amazing. I had no idea you could do the things with it I've been learning to do. We've been using it to mass product "Tags" for the HMI program and it's a big time saver. The functionality we've been using should be incorporated into InTouch. I've been mulling over and application I'd love to create that would help us, but alas nobody is going to buy off on a six month project to create an application that helps with HMI development. Sigh...

I must say I'm dying to get back to doing something I feel I'm good at, plain old Windows development work. C/C++/C#, I don't care at this point. Maybe another hand held project would be nice, I hear we have a few in the pipeline, but that all comes after harvest.

Posting will continue to be light here for the next few months. Heck I'll be blessed if I have time to get to the gym, or work on my Delphi education, but most of all I'll be super blessed to actually be able to say 'Hi' to my children or my lovely wife.

Harvest life, you gotta love it. Smile, life is good!

A note to scammers - [9:22 AM]

I've been receiving the same e-mail, supposedly from PayPal, over and over and over about my account being limited. If you're going to try to scam someone at least use a spell checker before you send your spam scam, ok?

The PayPal scam mail I'm referring to above incorrectly spells temporarily, temporarely.
