Body Mass Index - [11:26 AM]

Have you ever looked at a Body Mass Index scale? According to one I just visited I'm obese, I'm 6'3" and weigh 250 pounds which gives me a score of 31.2. There are some that believe nobody should weight over 200 pounds, that sounds pretty ridiculous to me.

I don't put much faith in a simple calculation like the BMI because it doesn't take into account muscle vs. fat, or is it simply based on weight? I guess even if your weight is solid weight(muscle) it could still put terrible stress on your body, right?

I'll keep my weight for now thank you very much. I've worked very hard over the past year to become a stronger person. A side effect of that effort, gaining 15 pounds.

A note to Martin Hash - [10:55 AM]

I Love RSS!I've always been a huge fan of 3D animation, I wish I had the skills to be a 3D animator or the skills to write code for a 3D animation package. What in the world does that have to do with Martin Hash? Hash, Inc. are the creators of a product called Animation:Master, a 3D modeling product. These guys are software heroes, they're your typical rebel software developers. They make their own rules and have an amazing cult like following. I can't remember how I discovered Hash to be honest with you, but I've been addicted to a featurette of their website since day one; Martin's Minutes. Martin Hash is a fabulous story teller in my humble opinion and I like to stay up to date with his latest tales. That brings us to my request. I'd love to see Martin's Minutes in an RSS feed form. While you're at it you could also create RSS feeds for Martin's TechNotes and Hash's Road Trips.

Please Mr. Hash, please give us Martin's Minutes junkies an RSS feed.

Movie line of the week - [8:25 AM]

And.... ACTION!Given that Oscar is coming I thought I'd give y'all a line from an Oscar winning film.

Ready, set, guess...

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here.

Redesign or Not? - [4:06 PM]

RibbitThat is the question. I've been toying with the idea of a redesign. I like this one but I want to make it even cleaner. I absolutely LOVE RC's latest creation; arsy, it's just so clean. I'm also encouraged by the recent redesign at Rodent Regatta, and Eric Meyer's site is very nice as well. I like the tabbed design in both.

I'd like to remove the title from the blog, "At the Core" just sounds too serious, but I'm going to keep the apple core for sure because I like the way it looks and it fits the apple theme of our domain.

Another thing I'd like to start using is WordPress. The new 1.5 release not only allows you to manage your weblog but embraces the idea of 'one-shot' type pages so it's easy to maintain the look and feel of your blog, I love that. I need to find out if it supports the MetaWeblog API so I can use PowerBlog with it, like I said before, I love smart clients.

We'll see if I can pull it off. Hopefully I'm going to be VERY BUSY any day now.

Google goes to the movies? - [3:52 PM]

Slashdot: "Over at the official Google Blog, a new Google feature was announced - Google Movies." - How sweet is that? This is something I can get behind! It'll make Movie Line of the Week a bit boring, but I like it.

Movie times for Visalia.

Harry Potter reviews.

RC's wild ride - [11:34 AM]

arsy: "While driving to work today I hit a water puddle. My car hydroplaned off the road and into a four wheel skid." - Richard has been commuting an hour plus, one way, for just over two years now. While I was commuting to Paramount Farms I often wondered what the odds were I'd have an accident given the horrible condition of most of the country roads you have to travel to get there. Paramount is out in the middle of nowhere.

I'm glad you're ok Richard. A word of advice, stop driving 90 MPH to get there, it's not worth dying over. Those of you that read this may not believe the 90 MPH comment, but it is unfortunately true.

More on FeedDemon - [9:07 AM]

I've been using FeedDemon 1.5 for a few days now and I'm loving it. I just wanted to point out some of the things I'm hooked on.

1) Newspapers - Each Channel Group(a group of weblogs) has what's called "Group Newspaper". Clicking on the Group Newspaper gives you a headline style view of all your weblogs.
2) Channel Groups - A grouping of weblogs. Helps you organize your mess.
3) The Headlines Newspaper Style - This Newspaper Style allows me to scan through my favorite weblogs.
4) It's extensible - You can create your own Newspaper Style's. Nice touch. I need to figure out how to create a chronological view, not sorted by weblog, but by post date/time. If you've ever used Radio UserLand you'll know what I'm talking about.

All-in-all I'm very pleased with the experience.
