MSFT Bagholder: "It's time for Bill and Steve to go. Bill was never a great CEO and never really wanted that kind of responsibility. Steve wanted it, but has proved a failure." - Wow, I can see it now, SaveMicrosoft.com. It worked for SaveDisney, why not for a group that wants to see Microsoft become a great place to work once again.
Not in the US? Yes... in the US.
SF Socialists[via Russell Beattie]: "Unfortunately, our sinking feeling (along with the sinking City) was correct. Just as dusk set in, a Gretna Sheriff showed up, jumped out of his patrol vehicle, aimed his gun at our faces, screaming, 'Get off the f@#$!*& freeway'. A helicopter arrived and used the wind from its blades to blow away our flimsy structures. As we retreated, the sheriff loaded up his truck with our food and water." - One groups account of their treatment while trying to flee New Orleans. I honestly have no words to describe how I feel about this.

Movie line of the week answer
Yesterday's movie line got a lot more attention than I thought it would!
In the end our big winner was David Cole, congratulations David!
The correct answer was...
I'll apologize for this up front, but I just had to link to it.
David Cole, A.K.A. Mr. C-OLE, or 'The Coleman', is a very good friend and former Visio automation stud. When you use the Visio ActiveX control think David, he's the man behind it along with many other great features.
Smalltalk, the beginnings(for me anyway)
I just finished installing VisualWorks, fired it up and played for a while. Now I need to go read this, and keep an eye on James Robertson's site for goodies like this.
Movie line of the week
Ok, let's get this show on the road, I have some automobiles to repair.
I've had this line floating around in my head all week, so...
Ready, set, guess!
Actor #1: I want to spend the night with you.
Actor #2: Do you mean sleep over?
Actor #1: Well... yeah.
Actor #2: Well, okay... but I get to be on top.
Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here
Bad start to the day
It seems that lately gremlins are tearing through our vehicles. My oldest daughters car is broken down, radiator trouble. This morning I jumped in my truck, got out on the road, and I noticed radiator fluid spewing from under the hood. Swell.
My truck was just repaired a month ago. New water pump, new fan, new timing belt, repaired radiator. Now something else is wrong with it. Oy.
So today I'm staying home, taking the day off, so I can repair at least one of the cars so I can get to work tomorrow.
This kind of junk always happens when you can't afford it. In this case we're pushing toward a release date and unfortunately I'm NOT setup to work from home, yet.
Think Progress: "Katrina Timeline" - Amazing.
Will it be an iPotter?
HPANA: "Additionally, a special edition 'Harry Potter iPod' will be made available featuring the Hogwarts school crest, designed by the author." - I never thought I'd purchase an iPod because they're just too darned expensive for what they provide, now I may have to change my mind.
Steve Jobs is a smart fella.
Honey, this would make a great gift!
Good idea James
James Snell: "But what else? I work from home full time and though I drive an SUV, I barely use a tank of gas a month (maybe). Perhaps if more of us worked from home full time over the coming months we could help alleviate the strain on gas consumption. This should be relatively easy for those of us in the IT industry." - James is on a bit of a rant about folks mad about the President's handling of New Orleans, but he does have a good idea with regards to the current energy crisis, this afternoon's local price for Unleaded $3.19 per gallon.
Note: As of this writing New Orleans is still, of course, under water. The Superdome has been emptied out, finally, and neighboring states are being flooded with refugees. This is the beginning of a long and winding road for the people of New Orleans. I agree we need to be a bit more constructive, and helpful, but the bottom line is; someone dropped the ball.
Once everyone is safe, and the city is cleaned up, should it be rebuilt to what it is today? Seriously, should it be rebuilt? Even if it is will people come back?
Movie line of the week answer
I know this is a couple of days late in coming, but it's better late than never, right? Friday I had to visit my local cardiologist for a stress test, and it took a lot longer than I thought it would, so I didn't post the answer on Friday. We decided to spend the weekend at a friends cabin not far from home and just got back this afternoon, so I thought I'd better post the answer.
Anywho, our winner is Tyler "June Bug Hunter" Love, who correctly guessed...
Thanks for playing, come back next week.
