CNN: "Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates said Thursday he will transition out of a day-to-day role at the company in 2008 to spend more time on global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation." - Wow, never thought I'd see that.

Movie line of the week - [10:36 AM]

Hot buttered popcorn and a movie, ahhh!Good morning movie liners. Today's line is from a fairly new DVD release.

Here's the line; ready, set, guess!

Actor #1: That's the thing about cockroaches. No matter how many times you flushed them down the toilet, they always crawl back up the bowl.
Actor #2: Hey buddy, I'm out of the bowl. I'm drying off my wings and trekking across the lid.

Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here.

Walt was hopeful - [9:45 AM]

The Disney Blog: "If our fondest hopes prevail, the world of 2006, anno domini, will have outlawed war and this old earth will be in such a flowering of civilization as the family of man has never seen. And that will have a profound effect upon the subject matter of the world's playtime and escapist mechanisms." - Unfortunately poor Walt didn't know there would be a group of "religious" radicals that wanted to kill us off and enslave the world to a life of misery.

Does Vista look like OS X? - [9:32 AM]

Steven Vore: "That doesn't really come as much of a surprise, the way that software (in the larger, general sense) evolves; vendors see what works for other companies, 'borrow' or 'steal' (depending on your point of view) from each other and build on it. The devil, as they say, is in the details." - Yes, it definitely favors OS X. Check out the link to the video on YouTube, it's kinda scary how much Vista behaves like OS X.

Big Ben, Big Idiot - [11:11 PM]

ESPN: "Big Ben in serious condition after motorcycle accident" - How thick do you have to be these days to NOT wear a helmet when you ride a motorcycle? Ben Roethlisberger has proven he's about as dumb as a fence post by doing just that.

From an ESPN interview with Rothlisberger in 2005...

A big yoyo.ESPN: It's not the law in Pennsylvania to wear a helmet. Why don't you wear a helmet?
Roethlisberger: Because you don't have to. It's not the law. If it was the law, I'd definitely have one on every time I rode. But it's the law and I know I don't have to and you're just more free when you're out there with no helmet on.

Yep, that's pretty thick.

Don't get me wrong, I don't wish the man any ill will, in fact I hope he's going to be 100%, but this is just plain stupidity. He should be thankful he didn't become fodder for a Darwin Award.

Just say no... - [10:36 AM]

FOXNews: "And Morel predicts the next big tattoo fad people will want off. 'It's like the lower-back tattoo - the tramp stamp - probably will be.'" - Ladies, just say not to lower back tattoo's.

Scoble moving on? - [11:24 AM]

Robert Scoble: "So, what about the other news? This is a rapidly-evolving part of my life. I just made this decision and it got out before I was completely ready to talk about it. I invite you to meet with me at the VLoggerCon tomorrow evening at 3 to 6 p.m. in San Francisco where we'll talk about it further (and I'll post again tomorrow about what's going on in my life and why I made this decision)." - Wowzer, it'll be interesting to see where Robert lands. I'm sure being separated from his son had a lot to do with it. I wouldn't be surprised to see him come back to sunny California. Good luck Robert in whatever you decide to do.

A new job at Microsoft - [10:57 AM]

Isn't strange what your brain does at night while you're sleeping? Last night I dreamed our groups (Pelco, Systems Engineering) V.P. became a V.P. at Microsoft. It's true, he was a V.P. Now you'd have to know Greg to know how improbable that scenario could be, but there I was none the less standing in the lobby of a newly constructed Microsoft high rise in downtown Seattle. Greg was taking me on a tour of the building, it was absolutely stunning. It was 91-stories tall and he took me all the way to the top where I promptly became very scared and woke up, I don't like heights. The funny thing was all I could think about was asking Greg for a job on his new team, even in my stupid dream. I've only worked for a few folks I'd follow to another venture; Ted Johnson, Jeremy Jaech, and now Greg Millar.

So Greg, how 'bout that job. Smile, life is good!
