IronPython 1.0 - [10:49 AM]

Does anyone know if the IronPython folks have complete integration with Visual Studio? For some people just having the language is enough, but to really make it shine it needs to be a good Visual Studio citizen.

I see the IronRuby effort has Visual Studio integration.

I've been living in arcane Linux development world for the past year and a half and I really miss a nice IDE. I was in one of our Windows guys office yesterday watching him take full advantage of Visual Studio, I sure do miss it.

I honestly believe we could cut our development effort at least 25% if we used Windows, or even the Mac, as our development platform just because of the tool set. Then again guys that cut their teeth on Linux will say the opposite. Six or one, half a dozen of another.

The new world - [8:56 AM]

CNN.com: "Terrorists were in the final stages of planning to blow up planes heading to the United States from Britain, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said Thursday." - Welcome to the new world. A world of hate.

A positive note, British officials did a great job catching this one!

Turbo products are back! - [4:35 PM]

Allen Bauer: "Yep. The rumors are actually true. There will be 'Turbo' versions of Delphi, Delphi for .NET, C++, and C#." - How cool is that! They even have a picture of Pascal on the Delphi boxes. That's old school! Go see for yourself.

Question is which of the Delphi's should I try? The .NET version or the Classic Win32 version?

Add that to my ever growing list of "things-that-would-be-nice-to-learn-when-I-have -he-time-to-actually-learn-something-new.

UPDATE: Allen Bauer kindly pointed out a boo-boo in this post, I'd originally attributed it to Nick Hodges, but that's not true, Allen is the source of the quote. Thanks for the correction Allen.

Missing Egyptian Students? - [10:13 AM]

Flopping Aces: "WASHINGTON - U.S. authorities are searching for 11 Egyptian men who arrived in the United States last month but failed to turn up at Montana State University for a scheduled academic program." - Most of the stories are the same, 11 missing students, don't worry, blah, blah, blah. Flopping Aces has a conversation, go take a look. It's probably nothing but it's strange how this happens right after al-Qaeda announces an alliance with an Egyptian group(the Egyptian group denies it.)

WordPress or Drupal? - [11:58 AM]

I'm trying to decide if I want to use WordPress or Drupal to manage this weblog. I decided quite a wile back to make the change I'm just not sure which system I want to go with. I plan on using Drupal for my wife's site so I was thinking it makes sense to use if for my weblog. On the other hand WordPress is an incredible weblogging tool and it integrates with RawSugar, which is a big plus in my book.

Who's using what, and why do you like it? Please leave comments.

Why Israel continues - [11:21 AM]

Haaretz.com [via James Snell]:

1. If I kill you, I win.
2. If you kill me, I am a martyr. I win big.
3. There are no innocents in the land of my enemy. If I kill infants, the elderly, pregnant women, even on purpose, I win.
4. When my enemy kills innocent civilians in error, even his own allies condemn him for brutality. I win.

Do the math, like the above example, and you'll understand why Israel is driving into Lebanon so hard. They can't win in the eyes of the world so they might as well drive Hezbollah into the ground, and unfortunately kill innocent Lebanese civilians along the way.

Has anyone once seen the news report of Hezbollah apologizing for killing innocent civilians in Israel? Nope, and you never will.
