What a psycho - [3:09 PM]

CNN: "Al-Zawahiri accuses the U.S. of waging war on Islam under the banner of the war on terror, and employing its allies in the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan to capture Muslims 'whom you made to taste at your hands and the hands of your agents various types of punishment and torture.'" - Nutter, complete and utter nutter. As if we started this whole nasty 'war.' This wack job along with Osama 'jomomma' bin Laden need to be removed from the picture, let's get them and bring them to America, bring them to the nation they hate so much, and put them away for life. Until then go back to your cave and leave us alone you piece of crap.

Another step toward war with Iran? - [9:48 AM]

The New York Sun: "Instead, the bill says it 'should be the policy of the United States to support efforts by the people of Iran to exercise self-determination over the form of government of their country." To that end, the legislation also says America should "support peaceful pro-democracy forces in Iran.'"

Habeas Corpus Suspended? - [8:31 AM]

Uncle SamSo it looks like our President got what he wanted. Unbelievable.

Call me Un-American but this is a mistake and I'm hoping the Judicial Branch will throw it out as unconstitutional. The biggest problem with the bill is it suspends Habeas Corpus for anyone deemed an Enemy Combatant. Anyone?

Judge for yourself, but I believe it's time for a change. The country is being run into the ground by our current administration. Hopefully we can begin the process of turning the country around this November.

A couple of links...

Geek fun - [9:18 AM]

Yahoo! User Interface Blog: "This is all subject to change and reshuffling, but here's the basic tentative schedule for Hack Day to guide you in your planning:" - I sure wish I could go party with all the geeks that'll be there. Sounds like it's going to be a good time.

Move forward - [9:10 AM]

The New York Sun: "If the Muslims are serious about presenting the radiant face of Islam, they must drop this false, hollow arrogance and acknowledge their dark past and their even darker present. ...They must also reinterpret the Koran, putting the warlike verses the verse of the sword and similar hadiths in historical perspective as verses that are no longer valid."

Save Mearle's - [8:53 AM]

Visalia Times Delta: "Supporters of Mearle's Drive-In are trying to save the iconic Visalia restaurant by having it declared a historic landmark and restricting the building's owner from changing it or tearing it down." - I certainly hope someone will come along and give Mearle's the TLC it needs.

Just call it a Zunecast - [2:02 PM]

Engadget: "Wired's Listening Post blog is reporting that Steve's legal eagles have sent one of those scary cease and desist letters to a company called Podcast Ready, whose premier product, myPodder, gives users an automated way to download 'casts to their portable devices." - If Apple goes after the term podcast just rename it zunecast and get Microsoft behind it. The other good name I've heard is 'netcast', audioblog and videoblog are also good as they describe exactly what you're doing, an audio or video version of your weblog.

What about the band POD, or those guys with the portable storage containers, PODS. Dang, for that matter they may come after me for using the term Apple in the name of our domain?

Madden Curse Strikes Again! - [9:32 AM]

ESPN.com: "KIRKLAND, Wash. -- The Seahawks' insulation from the recent hex of Super Bowl runners-up has a crack. League MVP Shaun Alexander has a broken left foot and will be lost to the Seahawks for at least a couple of weeks." - The curse strikes again! The last six Madden NFL 'cover boys' have all had horrible seasons after appearing on the game cover.

Time to put Big John back on the cover.

Sixth? - [9:23 AM]

CNNMoney: "'With a low savings rate, record-high current account deficits and a worsening of the U.S. net debtor position, there is a non-negligible risk to both the country's overall competitiveness and, given the relative size of the U.S. economy, the future of the global economy,' it said." - Good thing we have a strong economy, right?

Sure this probably doesn't mean much, but at least people are beginning to notice.

Clinton - [9:16 AM]

President Clinton did a good job with Chris Wallace. Sure he got a bit angry, but did you pay attention to the content? The news likes to latch on to the anger part instead of focusing on his answers.

Here's a nice Daily Show bit that asks that question.

Late night debugging session - [9:05 AM]

Arsy.Org: "That shot was taken in the lab while we were testing some of the last bug fixes." - Oh the joys of the end game. Those are DVR5100's in the background.

Maybe we should create a DVR5100 hacks site?

Expert Advice - [8:55 AM]

A co-worker has created a pretty nifty new site, Skilled Words. Anyone can contribute an article which will include your Google Adsense information, so you're paid for your work. This is not a scam site folks, he just wanted a place to share expert knowledge, allow others to share, and allow them to be paid for it.

I like it.

This is a free country... - [11:00 AM]

CNN: "CINCINNATI (Reuters) -- A car commercial proclaiming a jihad on the U.S. auto market and offering 'Fatwa Fridays' with free swords for the kids is offensive and should not be aired, Muslim leaders said on Sunday." - I agree this commercial is offensive and in poor taste, but this is the United States of America. Americans are equal opportunity bashers; Christians, Jews, and Homosexuals are made fun of daily, without thinking twice. Why should Islam be treated any differently?

Want to live in America, get used to it, or go home. America is advanced citizenship, you have to learn to deal with all kinds of things you don't agree with. On the flip side you can voice your opinion and know you're protected as a citizen.

It doesn't make it right(the bashing), but it's the way we roll.

Decide for yourself - [10:55 AM]

CNN: "Mr. Rumsfeld and his immediate team must be replaced or we will see two more years of extraordinarily bad decision-making" - A direct quote from a retired Major General Paul Eaton.

The best quote about Rumsfeld is he's "incompetent strategically, operationally and tactically ...." Wow, that speaks volumes.

Elections are coming, soon. Please vote, no matter which direction you choose, vote.

Next stop, Macintosh. - [9:54 AM]

Intel Core Duo.My wife is beginning to understand The Cult of Mac since our oldest daughter started using a Macintosh. The hardware and software are beautiful and functional, and things just seem to work as they should. The reports on Vista have been mixed, the latest I've read being a bit on the negative side. I would hope Microsoft would make every effort to correct these problems within a few months of shipment, and I also expect yearly updates to the OS from this point forward. No more long development cycles. Hopefully they'll be able to make Windows a world class citizen again.

As for our family we'll be purchasing a Macintosh next time around.

New Week - [9:47 AM]

I hope this week goes a lot better than last week. Sometimes life can trow some real curve balls your way. Last week was emotionally challenging to say the least. We put a dear family member to rest, while it was painful it was also joyous, a celebration of a life lived in Christ.

Godspeed Grandma, we'll catch you later, "Stinkpot".
