Dan wants Harry to die? - [3:32 PM]

Cinematical: "OK, I'm not above using a sensationalistic headline to grab people's attention. It's not so much that actor Daniel Radcliffe wants to kill off the character he's played in four (soon to be five) films based on the books of J.K. Rowling, but he seems to think that's the logical place for the story to end." - Unfortunately I think that's what we're going to see in the end. A very dead Harry Potter. Here's hoping the final book is a sensational read.

No wait, it gets worse - [2:12 PM]

PoliPundit: "The first point that they made was this election was 'between President BushÂ?s party and those that want to abandon Iraq.' That caught me off guard and I had to verify with my translator that 'abandon' was the correct translation." - Congress, listen to the men on the scene, they see what's happening day-to-day. I'm hopeful we can resolve this situation, the right way. If we take the word of the people on the scene; not the reporters, the command, we should be able to find the way.

Otherwise, God help us.

What's at stake? - [7:56 AM]

Quite literally the country. I've received e-mail from people I have a lot of respect for and it frightens me how divided we are on the country moving forward. Some believe without a Republican government we're lost, hopeless. Obviously we can't let the country fall and we can't walk away from Irag. That's right we can't walk away. We need a solid plan, something measurable. I think that's what most want, someone to step up with a good plan and be accountable for that plan. I'm hopeful we'll get such a plan.

Vista Review - [7:44 AM]

Paul Thurrott: "Paradoxically, Windows Vista is both revolutionary and evolutionary. While it includes modern OS features, such as a new hardware-based graphical user interface (GUI), Vista will also feel like familiar territory, for the most part, to anyone that's already familiar with Windows XP. And Mac advocates can claim, truthfully, that many of Vista's best features appeared first on Mac OS X, sometimes years ago." - I've seen it briefly, and it's very nice, but it's not earth shattering IMHO. On the other hand the .NET 3.0 framework is allowing one of our new projects here at Pelco to excel. In the end I'll upgrade our laptop, if it can handle it, but our next home computer will more than likely be a Mac.

Ok, get to work - [9:30 AM]

Democrats won the House and I haven't checked on the Senate this morning but it looks like they're close to a majority there as well. Now the real work begins. Find direction in Iraq. The people spoke yesterday and 'stay the course' lost. Now it's time to step up, fix the situation or I'll work to vote you out in two years.

Serious Visio Tips - [11:19 AM]

Visio 1.0 prototype boxVisio Guy, that's right Visio Guy. I had the pleasure of working with Chris at Visio for a number of years, hw was the first intern we ever hired and we had to keep him! He worked on Visio 1.0 shapes with Olav Martin Kvern and his merry band of ShapeMasters(that's what we called 'em). Chris is also an accomplished artist, hopefully you'll find some of that artwork on his site, I haven't looked in depth yet.

But I digress. Check out the site and download some of the shapes and code he's developed. As for me I'm getting the Snowflake Generator!

If you're a Visio developer, or user, you should get Chris' RSS feed and read it daily.

I'm Subscribed!

What next? - [1:06 PM]

If by chance Congress takes a turn on Tuesday the real work begins. Is there a plan for dealing with the debacle that is Iraq? Will they be given a chance to turn things around? Will there be constant pushback? My only hope right now is there will be a serious fight to fix the problems. Dems, you have two years. Do the right thing.

Then again, they may fail to win. In which case we'll continue down the Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld trail for another two years.
