How will Potter end? - [10:10 AM]

Harry Potter Prognostications: "This is why Dumbledore smiled upon hearing that Voldemort used Harry’s blood: Dumbledore understood that Voldemort, in his wanton determination to destroy Harry (mostly out of vanity), had opened the door for Harry to defeat him with the one weapon he could not wield: Love." - Will Harry's death save the world? I think we'll have to wait for book seven to find out! I for one hope Ms. Rowling has some twisted scheme up her sleeve, one we can't possibly guess, for the final chapter in Harry Potter's life.

Just say "NO" to Cuaron - [9:48 AM]

Harry Potter, the boy who lived! The Leaky Cauldron: "Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron has given a new interview with SFGate.com where he mentions again his interest in possibly returning to helm a Harry Potter movie." - I think I've mentioned my disappointment with Potter movies three and four. Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite book and the movie disappointed me greatly. The biggest disappointment of all has been Michael Gambon's portrayal of Albus Dumbledore, Richard Harris on the other hand nailed it. Gambon doesn't get it, at all, and I'm very surprised Ms. Rowling hasn't said "Dude, get your act together and play him the right way." Anyway, I'd like to see Chris Columbus return as director.

Speakin of Apple - [6:59 AM]

A wreathed gas lamp in the snow.CNN: "SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- Swarms of online shoppers armed with new iPods and iTunes gift cards apparently overwhelmed Apple's iTunes music store over the holiday, prompting error messages and slowdowns of 20 minutes or more for downloads of a single song." - Santa Claus brought our oldest daughter an iPod nano, and an iTunes card for Christmas. She promptly got her Mac started and went right to the iTunes store, only to be frustrated by the experience.

My comment to her was "Looks like Santa got iPods and iTunes for everybody." Apparently he did.

Jobs in trouble? - [6:53 AM]

On my drive home this morning I was listening to the news and the reporter claimed that Steve Jobs was in deep water over doctored stock options, which isn't news. The thing that hit me was talk of Apple's board possibly asking him to step down as CEO. That would be HUGE! Talk about a move that could kill a company.

We'll see where this goes, but Jobs going wouldn't be good for Apple IMHO.

Sleep Study - [6:40 AM]

I just made it home from my sleep study, what an experience that was. SleepMed; the place where my study was conducted, was wonderful, the office staff and technician were great, but my sleep experience made for a long night. For starters you're hooked up to a bunch of wires, which isn't so bad, then you go through some pre-sleep exercises, which wasn't so bad, then you're asked to sleep. That wouldn't be so bad if I were a back sleeper! I'm a belly sleeper and have been for a number of years, but to sleep on my back is absolute torture, so I didn't sleep too well during that portion of the test. Around 1AM the technician, Jasper, came in and hooked me up to a C-PAP machine, which tells me things didn't go very well. I actually slept better, even on my back, after putting on the mask. I have a follow up with my doctor in a couple of weeks after the results are studied, so we'll see what the doc recommends at that time.

For now, I'll be re-reading J.D.'s posts about his apnea struggles. I know I need to loose weight(I tip the scales at 260), so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Are you a Potter fan? - [12:05 PM]

Harry Potter, year fiveIf so I'd recommend directing your browser, and favorite feed reader, to Harry Potter Prognostications. Greg and Penny are doing an absolutely fabulous job. Their podcasts are first rate and I just love the prognostication. I haven't had the time to stop by and listen to their latest series of podcasts on Deathly Hallows but I'm sure they're first rate.

Stop by when you have a few minutes, you won't regret it.

Feed Patents - [9:49 AM]

The Microsoft Cash CowMicrosoft Team RSS Blog: "Finally, as a number of commenters have noted, we are far from the only company to apply for patent protection in this space. Other companies, including Apple and Google, have apparently also applied for patents. Applying for a patent on your innovation is common industry practice, and one which, by incenting and protecting the companies and people involved, encourages everyone to contribute to the community." - I wasn't going to chime in on this, but it's lingering, so I couldn't resist. The only question I have is this, why patent something that obviously has prior art?

Merry Christmas! - [9:21 AM]

Merry Christmas!

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." - Luke 2:9-12
