Animation and SFX in Visalia, CA?
I don't know if it's obvious, I love filmmaking. I especially love special effects and animation. They're both areas of filmmaking I could put my love of film and my love of computing together. I've written about it in the past. In that particular post I was referring to a position titled Render Wrangler. Great job title! The thought of working for one of the great animation, or special effects companies, on their render farms has always fascinated me.In 2003 I'd started a sister site to this one, it died as quickly as it started. The idea behind that site was to write more essay length stories since this site is often more about linking and commentary. One of the first stories written for the site was an idea for one of the effects companies; ILM, DreamWorks, Pixar, or Disney, to start a render farm at an old abandoned movie theatre in Visalia, CA. Why? Well, I though since the valley was an inexpensive place to live and it was located directly between Hollywood and the Silicon Valley it might make for a nice mid-point, along with it being an inexpensive location to have such a site. Of course it'll never happen, but a guy can dream, right?
Oh, that movie theatre, is still standing, and still abandoned.
Since the site is supposed to be haunted maybe we should invite Ghost Hunters out to debunk it.
